  1. It is a wonderful idea to help those out there that are struggling to put their lives back together. The registry should not be allowed to control people’s lives. I pray that someday we will be able to get a support group going in our state of Alabama. Thank you for your story. Deb

    1. Thanks so much for your comment! As I told Clancy, I agree that having a support group is important. Please join us on connections.narsol.org. While it’s not an “in person” group, there are some wonderful people helping each other out.

  2. I love this project. I am a clinical counselor helping both adults and adolescents who have committed sexual offenses. One of the things I have done is to start a peer support group with some of my former successful clients. The biggest obstacle we face is public perception and the media promotes a very unrealistic and negative perception. A project like yours is a good step toward providing more accurate information. I know how damaging and totally ineffective the registry is and will do everything I can to promote your project.

    1. Clancy,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I think the peer group is also an amazing idea. As a registrant, it is so easy to become isolated. Having the ability to share with others who have been in similar circumstances in a positive and forward looking manner is wonderful.
If you aren’t already familiar with it, I’d like to invite you and the successful clients you refer to to join us on connections.narsol.org. It’s a Facebook like social media platform filled with wonderful people who are either registrants, their family and friends, or just supporters.

  3. I am so sorry that you have to go through that!!! I am in Florida on the registry and I actually committed a crime back in 2001. It is a forever until you die punishment and we are not the only ones who suffer. Our loved ones are being punished as well but the states don’t care about them either! You will be in my prayers!

    1. Jerry, thanks so much for watching and chiming in. You are absolutely correct. The registry doesn’t just impact registrants, it spirals into the lives of our loved ones as well.
